A career in the visual arts can be self-satisfying and rewarding. Opportunities are presented to recognize and use the student’s gifts and talents that will serve the student in all aspects of life. For over 60 years, Antonelli Institute has been teaching the visual arts. The primary goal of Antonelli Institute is to have its students become qualified visual artists in every sense of the word. All programs of study in Photography and Graphic Design/ Commercial Art are designed to provide entry-level training to the student.
Antonelli Institute was founded in 1938 in Philadelphia by internationally renown photographer and artist Severo Antonelli. The school’s founder, a major futurist artist and photographer, had brought to the school his reputation as one of the leading photo-picturalist’s in the United States. On two occasions Antonelli’s photographs were exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution in the largest one-man photography exhibitions ever at that institution.
The Institute was founded to meet the training needs of professional photographers and military photographers. Following World War II the school’s excellent reputation attracted veterans seeking training in photography.
Antonelli Institute offers occupational degree programs in photography and graphic design/commercial art. Located in Pennsylvania, the school teaches artistic and technical skills necessary to succeed in the creative visual arts. Antonelli Institute is known for providing individualized "hands on" instruction in classes taught by working professionals.
Antonelli Institute seeks to prepare a student for a career in the visual arts. It is Antonelli Institute’s objective to impart knowledge, skills and confidence to students so that they may work with success and enjoyment and with a love for what they accomplish in the field of the visual arts.
Competitions among students of the Institute, within a class or among several classes, are held each academic year. Judging is often done by independent professionals in the visual arts. Students are strongly urged to become student members of professional associations in their respective field of study. Antonelli students regularly compete with other schools in competitions sponsored by these associations.
The campus occupies a 27,000 square foot modern multi-level facility located on a beautiful 15 acre wooded hillside in Erdenheim, PA. Seventeen classrooms and studios are arranged to provide natural lighting appropriate for each academic program. Artificial classroom lighting is color balanced.
