Description

It is the mission of Cañada College to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds have the opportunity to achieve their educational goals by providing quality instruction in general, transfer, career, and basic skills education, and activities that foster students’ personal development and academic success. Cañada College places a high priority on supportive faculty/staff/student teaching and learning relationships, responsive support services, and a co-curricular environment that contributes to personal growth and success for students. The College is committed to the students and the community to fulfill this mission.

Cañada College is a unique community college. Because it is one of the smallest community colleges in the Bay Area we are more like a private college. Our class sizes are small and our faculty has one mission - to help you achieve your academic goals. You won't find yourself in a large lecture hall being taught by a graduate student. Many members of our faculty have earned Ph.D.'s and they enjoy mentoring students. That's one reason we are historically one of California 's best community colleges when it comes to transferring students to four-year schools.

While we are small, we have a full array of courses that transfer to universities as general education requirements. We also have the first University Center developed in California . It offers bachelor's degrees in nursing, business administration, liberal studies, and child and adolescent development in addition to teaching credentials for elementary and secondary schools and an accelerated executive master's degree in business administration. More than 1,000 students are on campus earning degrees in this unique program funded by the California Legislature. Our original and largest partner in this effort is San Francisco State University .

Cañada College also opens doors for adult learners looking for a career change. You can pursue a career in medical assisting, radiologic technology, multimedia, early childhood education, fashion design, interior design, human services, accounting, business technology, and many other fields that are described on this site. Whether you need to start your new career by first learning English or you already have a bachelor's degree, Cañada College can help you on the path to a new career.
