Our mission is to provide people an opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to remain competitive in a changing business environment and to enhance their personal lives.

There is a rapidly growing need for employees in many areas of the medical field. Our on-site health occupations programs provide high quality training in a variety of medical career paths. Programs of study include: Medical Coding, Unlicensed Assistive Personnel, EMT/Paramedic, Practical Nursing and Surgical Technology.

The Practical Nursing Program is fully accredited by the Missouri State Board of Nursing. The Surgical Technology program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation on Allied Health Education Program.

Additionally, we offer on-line health occupations' certification programs, including: Medical Coding and Billing, Pharmacy Technician, Administrative Dental Assistant, Personal Fitness Trainer, Pharmaceutical Representative, and Veterinary Assistant.

The Columbia Area Vocational Technical School (also known as the Career Center) provides vocational and technology education to 10th graders and up, serving about 17,000 adults, 700 vocational secondary , and 4,500 practical art secondary students each year in education programs.
