Description
Gadsden State Community College is a public, open-door comprehensive community college under the control of the Alabama State Board of Education. On July 8, 2003, the College was created by the consolidation of Harry M. Ayers State Technical College and Gadsden State Community College. The mission of Gadsden State Community College is to meet the needs of its diverse communities by offering quality educational and cultural experiences that are accessible and affordable and that empower students to become lifelong learners.
Gadsden State Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane; Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097; Telephone Number 404.679.4501) to award associate degrees. If your goal is a four-year degree or higher, GSCC instructors will fully prepare you to begin work at any four-year institution which you may choose to attend.
Reports from some of the universities to which GSCC students transfer have shown that GSCC students do as well as, and in some cases better than, students who complete their first two years at the university. Many GSCC alumni have graduated from four-year institutions with honors and have continued their education to complete law school, medical school, pharmacy school, MBA programs, and graduate degrees in other fields of study.
