The mission of Iowa Wesleyan College is to prepare students to succeed in a changing global environment. Iowa Wesleyan is a four year liberal arts college providing quality individualized learning experiences that combine the development of the intellect with adaptive life skills. The college is affiliated with the United Methodist Church with which it shares a commitment to spiritual values, social justice and human welfare.

Iowa Wesleyan College, with its outstanding reputation and rich heritage, is the oldest four-year, coeducational, church-related liberal arts college west of the Mississippi River. With a dedicated and gifted faculty and staff, Iowa Wesleyan College excels in providing an individualized educational experience for students in a changing world. Mount Pleasant, Iowa, with its 8,500 friendly people, is full of history, good schools, fine churches and prosperous businesses – all of which supply students with outstanding opportunities. Mount Pleasant is located in southeastern Iowa at the junction of U.S. highways 34 and 218. This convenient location offers four-lane access to I-80, I-70 and Des Moines. The community enjoys daily Amtrak service to Chicago and points east as well as Denver and points west. Commercial airlines in Burlington and Cedar Rapids are only a short distance away, while the Mount Pleasant municipal airport accommodates private aircraft.

Proudly, Mount Pleasant is the home of the annual Midwest Old Settlers and Threshers Association Reunion. This event attracts over 100,000 visitors every Labor Day Weekend. The celebration displays an ever expanding collection of antiques as well as hundreds of pieces of steam-powered farm equipment. Visitors are able to participate in shows, activities, demonstrations and parades throughout the reunion.

Mount Pleasant is the home of numerous buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places including the Harlan Lincoln House and the James Van Allen Home. Recreational activities in Mount Pleasant include, golf, tennis, swimming, a community fitness and recreation facility, city parks and playgrounds, and two nearby state parks.
