The James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, provides each student with an exceptional education through outstanding scholarship and innovate thinking in a community dedicated to knowledge.
The university is dedicated to helping the local and global community. Many students join groups like the Peace Corps Volunteers and Be the Change to help the world through environmental stewardship, global affairs, nonviolence awareness and more.
Student life at the university is immersed in activity. Whether they join one of the school’s 300 student clubs or take an internship overseas, students find learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom. The school hosts many multicultural events throughout the year, allowing students to be exposed to diverse cultures.
Academics at the school include a broad range of undergraduate degrees in colleges of Arts and Letters, Business, Education, Integrated Science and Technology, Visual and Performing Arts and more. Graduate programs are available in more than 50 fields, like Psychology, Health Sciences and more.
Admissions require incoming students to begin during fall semester. Decisions are determined based on the strength of a student’s academic record, ACT/SAT scores, secondary school report, extracurricular activities and personal statement.
Tuition is set lower for Virginia residents, although all students may be eligible to receive financial aid if they complete a FAFSA by March 1. Forms of aid include Pell grants, SEO grants, the Virginia Guaranteed Assistance Program and more.
