LMC Description

The Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, California, offers students a junior college experience with the resources of a four-year institution through its many transfer academics, specialty community programs and a transfer center that works with you personally to make sure you’re ready to complete a baccalaureate education.

Although a community college, Los Medanos offers an extensive array of student services and activities to provide an exciting college life. There are many laboratories for music, science and mathematical study, an upscale library and many learning communities available to join.

When you’re not studying, you can enrich your cultural appreciation by attending one of the many theatre or musical performances hosted on campus. Many of these performances are complemented by student work exhibited in the school’s art gallery.

No matter which profession you’re pursuing, or even if you’re unsure, Los Medanos has a variety of programs for you. Disciplines range from liberal studies to the sciences to professional child care to industrial technology.

If you want to receive a unique learning experience, you can enroll in one of Los Medanos’ special programs like MESA (Math, Engineering and Science Achievement) and ACE. These provide students with an immersive, intensive education and unique internship and scholarship opportunities that’ll help you on the path to success.

Interested students may complete an application available on Los Medanos’ website. If applicable, applicants may have to complete additional admissions requirements like taking a math and English entrance exam or attending new student orientation.

Students who provide proof of California residency pay less for tuition, although all students may apply for financial aid through federal resources like Pell grants, SEO grants and direct loan programs.
