The mission of Nassau Community College is:

  • To provide students with an environment that promotes learning in community so that they can create their own knowledge, make connections, become more critically reflective, develop responsibility and facilitate the learning of others
  • To create community among faculty, advisement personnel, administration
  • To enhance professional development through collaboration and partnership
  • To provide faculty with support in the design, implementation and assessment of their LC’s, including pedagogical strategies such as active learning, cooperative learning, critical thinking, writing across the disciplines, curricular integration
  • To conduct on-going evaluation of the LC initiative and to continue to explore new models that address student needs
