Nassau county residents looking for a place to begin their educational and professional development: the Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York, one of the largest community colleges in SUNY system, has the tools for your success.
Nassau boasts a variety of academics. Though it is a community college, the school has more than 70 areas of study available to you in your pursuit of an associate’s degree. Besides traditional liberal arts concentrations like art, psychology and the sciences, Nassau offers programs in Africana Studies, Mortuary Science and Theatre and Dance.
Students interested in immersing themselves in other cultures and languages may study abroad through Nassau’s many programs. As a member of the College Consortium for International Studies, Nassau allows students to study in countries like Bulgaria, Hungary, Japan and many others.
If you study on campus, your college life will be enhanced by Nassau’s many exciting activities. Whether you want to check out an art exhibit at the Firehouse Plaza Art Gallery, volunteer for events like the American Heart Walk or enjoy the nightlife by catching a performance from the Theatre and Dance Department or other concerts, Nassau has opportunities for you to develop personally as well as professionally.
Students are considered eligible for enrollment if they have obtained a high school diploma or GED. If you haven’t, you will have to take a placement test administered by Nassau’s admissions department.
To encourage local students to pursue their career goals, tuition is set lower for Nassau county and New York State residents.
Financial aid is available to students demonstrating need through a variety of Nassau scholarships and federal loans and grants.
