Recognized throughout the entire state of New York as a leader in providing high-quality educational opportunities, services and academics, the Rockland County BOCES offers a Licensed Practical Nursing program that will prepare you for entry-level employment or for advanced education in the medical field.
To be considered eligible for the program, students must be at least 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma and successfully complete an entrance exam and interview. Admissions are competitive, so students are recommended to apply as early as possible.
Students who qualify for Rockland financial aid may be assisted through federal Pell grants and direct Stafford loans.
The Licensed Practical Nursing program is an intensive 1,080 clock hours. Students have the opportunity to complete it in a year, if taken full-time, or in two years, if taken part-time.
The program contains clinical components, in addition to academics, that you can complete at local health care facilities. Medical professionals will supervise you, so your experiences will provide you with the real-world knowledge.
Upon completion of the program, you will be eligible to take the New York Practical Nursing Licensure Examination. If you pass, you will be ready to look for employment as a licensed nurse, clinic nurse and office nurse, among other nursing vocations.
