Birthwise Midwifery School in Bridgton, Maine, offers training programs and continuing education courses for future and practicing midwives. Birthwise Midwifery School also offers distance-learning options.
Birthwise Midwifery School offers a three-year on-campus program that prepares students for professional midwife certification. Students in this program attend classes two to three days per week, and also undertake a local clinical assignment at a facility that uses midwives.
The school offers a similar program called the Community Program for those who live in other states. Those in the Community Program complete clinical hours in their home community. They also go to Bridgton several times per year to meet with faculty.
Birthwise Midwifery School has a continuing education division, as well. Continuing education courses are for practicing midwives who would like to expand their skills.
The school’s on-campus certificate program enrolls new students every September. Admissions applications are due in the spring prior to enrollment. Applicants are also encouraged to visit the school.
Birthwise Midwifery School awards federal financial aid to assist eligible students with tuition costs. The FAFSA or federal financial aid application is required of all aid applicants. Types of aid include loans and grants.
