Overall
First of all, I am in band which helped me meet lots of new people. I am also involved in BSU (Baptist Student Union). BSU is not like structured exactly like church at home. It is a comforting place where we fellowhip together and worship God. The majority of my friends that I have made this year are also involved in BSU. Honetly there is not much to do on or around campus. But, don't let that deter you, you can hang out with friends and there are a few activities around campus. Moving on to acedemics, don't think that because Holmes is a community college, that it is going to be easy. You still have to work hard and believe me, I never used to study in hig school. You are still able to get the same education as 4-year universities offer, but for a fraction of the cost. The cost is the reason why I am at Holmes, because who could pass up a full paid band scolarship as opposed to thousands of dollars at a university? The band scholarship covers classes, the dorm, and the food plan. I meantioned the food plan and I would like to mention that the food in the cafeteria is pretty good. Sometimes I get tired of it, but then I can always go to the Canteen, this is not the cafeteria and it is commonly called "The Can". It serves hamburgers and chicken nuggets and such. The band scholarship also covers "the Can" at lunch time, other than that it cost to order food from there. Honestly I did not want to go to Holmes in the beginning, but it really is great now. I like the small community feeling of Holmes and I think it will really prepare me for nursing school.
Academics
It really depends on what major you have, to determine the difficulty of the classes. There is a wide variety of classes and Holmes offers all of the classes that I am required to take to get into nursing school. The professors are very helpful, meaning that they will accommodate you after class hours if you need the extra help. The class size varies, but the majority of my classes are from twenty to thirty students in a regular class room setting. The workload varies; some weeks I have nothing due and then other weeks I have to spend every spare minute in my room doing work from different classes that is due at the same time. Other than actually having to study, the classes aren't so bad.
Campus Facilities & Safety
I love the small community feeling at Holmes. The campus is very old (by old - I mean that my parents went to Holmes), but the facilities are kept in great condition. I feel safer while I do my afternoon jog here, than I do while I jog at home. The running and walking trail is very nice and it is usually shaded during the day which is great. There is also an exercise gym, but I personally enjoy the scenery of the running trail much better. I also like that the campus is not so big that I have to drive or ride a bike to my classes. I have plenty of time between classes to walk to my next class. The buildings are not too far away from each other, so everybody is able to make it to their classes in time.

Overall
I am pleased overall, but I wish that there were more instructors so that the waiting list would not be so long to enter the nursing program. The registration process can be very tedious with very long wait times. The communications is not very good, I had a hard time selecting classes this semester because no one could tell me which classes I was given credit for. In the system it appeared that I was given credit but when I tried to register for a certain class the computer would not allow it and the counselors could not help me, so I could not do early registration.
Academics
This semester I had to select another class on the first day of class because the class cancelled because there were not enough students.
Campus Facilities & Safety
I think that campus safety is good. There is campus police present when I arrive for class, but not always at the end my evening class.

Overall
When I visited the school it was nice and the students and professors were very nice. I remember the time I walked into the school I felt right at home and I was greeted with warm welcomes. The cafeteria food was great because there was variety of things to choice from.
Academics
The class was very small and I was able to learn a lot better because the teacher always made sure I understood the lesson. My classes fit my schedule and the professors never gave up on me. The work that we are given is as normal.
Campus Facilities & Safety
The parkings were spaced out good the facility was clean and doable. The campus is secured because the security guards are always there to protect you at all times. There organizations are not racial like many people think they are. But most of all it is a good campus.
