At Minnesota School of Cosmetology, being a professional cosmetologist means more than being a hairstylist. We take students in our cosmetology program beyond hairstyling techniques to teach them the increasingly complex and artistic skills necessary to be a successful cosmetologist.
Through theory classes, practical classes and clinical floor training, students at our Minnesota cosmetology school learn to perform a variety of beauty services that cover all aspects of the beauty industry. These services include shampooing, hair cutting, hair styling, make-up application, temporary and permanent hair waving, hair straightening, hair coloring, bleaching and tinting, manicuring, facials, various skin and scalp treatments, as well as salon management and interpersonal communication skills.
The cosmetology program is designed with individual students in mind and providing skills and information based on current trends in the field of cosmetology.
The Minnesota School of Cosmetology is a private, for-profit, cosmetology school that operates in the Twin Cities area providing career education to its students to become stylists, estheticians, make-up artists, or nail technicians. The cosmetology component of the education is a 1550 hour course while the nail technology component comprises a 350 hour course.
Minnesota Cosmetology Education Center was established in 1950, in a residential home that was converted to a school setting. In 1988, new owners purchased the school, and revamped the curriculum to focus on the salon industry; taking on the education of the business side of cosmetology. Curriculum focuses on cosmetology, sales training, communication, fashion, and technical ability.
In 2003, Minnesota Cosmetology Education Center was acquired by Terry L. Myhre and Kaye Myhre, who renamed the institution Minnesota School of Cosmetology, and moved the facility from South Saint Paul, to the new location in Oakdale, which is a suburb of St. Paul Minnesota.
