Description

Maybe you’ve never attended a college class. That’s okay: if you’re a resident of Los Angeles County, particularly of the San Fernando Valley, and are interested in a medical career, you can get a hands-on education from the accredited Valley College of Medical Careers (VCMC).

Valley College of Medical Careers is located in West Hills, California, in close proximity to such cities as Woodland Hills and Thousand Oaks, and within 40 minutes of downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood and the beach communities.

Since it is accredited by the Bureau of Health Education, Valley College’s programs meet strict standards for medical career education.

Programs at VCMC lead prepare students for such careers as Medical Assisting, Vocational Nursing and Pharmacy Technology.

All programs offer a significant hands-on component through externships or professional off-campus employment in one’s field of study. Students in the Medical Billing and Coding program, for example, will take an externship assignment in a doctor’s office or hospital, performing duties similar to those that they’ll perform when working full time.

Since students need only have a high school diploma or GED, anyone with a strong desire to work in a satisfying and secure career may apply. An age minimum of 17 is also usually imposed for applicants, but even those who fall below this age restriction may get permission to apply.

Financial aid in the form of grants and loans may be awarded based on financial need and other requirements.
