UHV Description

Maybe you’re an older student who wants a degree, but doesn’t want to spend a lot of time going to school, or perhaps four years of student loans is too much to bear.

University of Houston in Victoria, Texas, now offers a three-year bachelor’s degree in select fields to help those dealing with these concerns.

A small school that is known for its safety, University of Houston also offers standard four-year degrees as well as a pleasant campus experience for all its students.

Those who wish to pursue the three year bachelor’s may major in such fields as Communications, Criminal Justice, English, History, Psychology and Education. Sessions last from eight to fifteen weeks and students still get their summers off.

Standard four-year degrees are also awarded in such fields as Applied Arts, Computer Science, Teacher-Education, Psychology and Business.

Graduate programs include Master’s degrees offered in such fields as the Arts and Sciences, Business, Nursing and Education.

The small city of Victoria and the campus itself are safe, but still within a two hour drive of the state’s major cities, including Austin and Houston.

Victoria’s student life activities also provide a pleasant outlet and include a Jazz performance group, a film society, a campus ministry and cultural groups such as the Mexican-American Student Organization.

Those seeking undergraduate admission will need to present transcripts of previous schools attended, standardized test scores and an application. Transfer applicants are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores.

Financial aid is awarded to eligible students and may include loans for undergraduates and full-tuition fellowships for graduate students.

I like the fact that all my studies have been available online. Had to take a couple classes at a community college though and have them transferred. The instructors are awesome and helpful. I wish there was an online master's option available for criminal justice. The internet staff whenever I had issues was awesome. Usually that day or first thing the next day, they would resolve my issues. I had a couple problems taking test due to computer issues and the instructors worked with me whether it was issues on my end or thiers.

The master programs are on Sugar Land and Cinco Ranch which are basically just 1-2 building/ campus. There is nothing else there except just some small classrooms. If we want to buy some food, we have to DRIVE 5-10' from campus. Very inconvenient! The quality of education there is OK, just OK. The degree is of course not comparable with other institutions such as UH-main. The employees will never consider UHV's degree the same as UH-main 's degree as many people thought. Especially the student services are HORRIBLE. They can ignore students' emails or calls about classes, admission, etc. and NEVER get back. We feel that is such a big waste of money when we pay the service fee here. International student office is a disaster. The 2 ladies there are not helpful but very rude. Ms E.K. is hated by every single student who has chance to contact her either in person or email or phone. She seldom help us with anything. This is a big NO NO for any international student who want to study it UHV. Cheap price goes with cheap services! Moreover, the school does not provide any internship opportunity during the degree so students struggle to find the job after school. After having studied in this school, I advice students should not repeat my mistakes. Cheap school, cheap degrees, cheap services!!
