Lake City Community College From Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia

Lake City Community College (LCCC), located in Lake City, Florida, Florida, was founded in 1947 as a school of forestry. The college traces its growth from the Forest Ranger School, which utilized structures that remained from a World War II era air base. In 1961 the state of Florida created Lake City Junior College on the site of the old forestry school and the college became one of 28, two-year institutions founded by the state during this time. Through the 1960’s, Lake City Junior College had fewer than 400 students.

In 1970, the term "community" was placed in the college's title to emphasize the broad spectrum of transfer and occupational programs offered in addition to workforce and community education and community service courses.

At present, LCCC occupies one hundred acres of southern pines, with over twenty-five modern buildings surrounded by crepe myrtle and azalea shrubbery.
