Description

Southeast Arkansas College offers area residents transfer degrees, comprehensive career-oriented programs and career service offerings to help them put their degree to use.

Even though the school requires entering students to have a high school diploma or GED, students who have neither may still enter by first taking Southeast’s basic education classes.

The Pine Bluff, Arkansas school grants associate’s degrees in healthcare fields such as Emergency Medical Services, Phlebotomy and Surgical Technology. Technical programs include training for Crime Scene Investigation and Heating and Refrigeration.

Those who wish to transfer may take pre-professional courses in Nursing or Medical and Radiologic Technology, or pursue a General Studies or Business degree.

Southeast’s adult education courses provide GED preparation for those who have yet to earn their diploma. Students who go through the GED-prep course may continue on in one of Southeast’s degree programs.

For those who plan to launch a career upon graduating, the career development division offers a wealth of services. Included among these are one-on-one counseling, career fairs, access to job listings, coaching on resume writing, job-search and interviewing skills and career-oriented workshops.

Festivals, game nights, community activities and recreational offerings provide a social outlet and a chance to relax.

Entering students must take a placement exam and meet with a school counselor, who will determine which classes are best suited to them.

Financial aid is awarded through different sources and eligibility is primarily determined by financial need.
