Description

At Gene Juarez Academy for Cosmetology in Federal Way, Washington, students learn through hands-on training in a variety of situations.

While students are in the Cosmetology training program they may participate in industry events, such as fashion shows and photo shoots, that give them the chance to showcase their skills while also making professional contacts.

Gene Juarez Academy students may also practice their skills while serving others at the school’s unique Community Outreach events. At these events, students provide free hair and nail services to the underprivileged, terminally ill and those facing other types of hardship.

Another unique way that Gene Juarez instructs its students is through its Student Ambassador program. Gene Juarez ambassadors work as mentors, teaching students who are newer to the program.

Marketing, public relations and job-search techniques are also integrated into the Gene Juarez curriculum to give students the skills they need to find employment. Beyond the classroom, students may also benefit from the school’s career counseling and job-placement services. Externship assignments in local beauty facilities are also provided.

Those applying to Gene Juarez must have a high school diploma or GED. A variety of scholarships and other forms of financial aid are available to students who meet certain requirements.
