Students participate in resume-building internships, a tuition-paid travel experience - the Tour of France, Florida Cruise and Resort Tour or Cultural Tour serves as an exciting climax to each of the programs. Students can elect to major in any one of four areas including Hotel Management, Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or Restaurant Management. And because we blend academics with real life experience, our graduates enter the field as professionals.
The heart of The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College's campus is a picturesque European courtyard situated in the midst of an American college environment. The college's major building, Allison Mansion, features bright restaurant kitchens, multi-media enhanced lecture halls, computer labs, a library, and four different themed open-to-the-public restaurants, which serve as part of educational life. As the college grows and new buildings are added, the Mansion continues to service as the hub of campus life.
Our campus life philosophy supports a balance of work and play. Each day, the entire campus takes a one-hour break for our Student Success Hour. Students choose from a variety of exciting activities from chocolate tasting to meeting a celebrity from the Food Network®. Students are encouraged to participate in campus associations to build leadership, social, and organizational skills.
Coffeehouses, restaurants, museums, theatres, shops, and more surround the school's campus. It's just minutes away from the urban excitement of Center City, the bohemian appeal of South Street, artsy Manayunk, and the ethnic charms of Chinatown and South Philly.
It's an ideal and exciting location for college life with opportunities for students to enjoy year-round - surfing at the New Jersey shore, skiing in the Poconos, touring the Amish country, or visiting some of the many amusement parks in the area. And, because Philadelphia is centrally located in the Northeast corridor, The Big Apple, Baltimore's Inner Harbor, and the nation's capital are just a train ride away. From Wikipedia, The Free EncyclopediaThe Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College was founded in 1974 as America's first private college to offer career training in fine dining and the luxury hospitality industry. The college offers four majors: Culinary Arts, Restaurant Management, Pastry Arts and Hotel Management. The majors are offered at the Associate and Bachelors degree levels.
Located in the University City section of Philadelphia the campus features four open-to-the-public student-run restaurants, a pastry shop, bookstore and gift shop and a student cafe. The college offers on-site housing for students. There are 600 students who hail from 17 states.
Special features are travel experiences which are included in the tuition. All Culinary and Pastry students in the Associate Degree participate in a week-long gastronomic tour of France. Restaurant and Hotel Management students participate in a week-long hospitaly tour that includes behind-the-scenes tours of Walt Disney World and othe central Florida resorts followed by a cruise to the Bahamas. Students that continue their studies towards a Bachelors degree participate in a week-long Hospitality Tour of England.
