Full Sail was founded as Full Sail Real World Education by Jon Phelps in 1979 as a recording studio workshop. A film program was added in 1988, and the school was accredited to award specialized associate’s degrees in 1990. A third degree in Digital Media was added in 1995, followed by Game Design and Show Production & Touring in 1998.

Full Sail received additional accreditation in 1998, allowing the school to issue associate of science degrees, and 1999 saw the addition of a Computer Animation associate’s degree. In 2003, Full Sail added its first bachelor’s degree in Entertainment Business (designed to be combined with an additional Full Sail associate’s degree), followed quickly by the Game Design & Development program. The company was originally called Full Sail Recorders, Inc., subsequently Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts, and finally the name was changed to Full Sail, Inc. in 2000.

In 2005, three programs – Computer Animation, Digital Arts & Design (formerly Digital Media), and Film – were expanded and accredited to be offered as Bachelor of Science degrees. In 2007, the Entertainment Business Bachelor's Degree Program was altered to become the Music Business Bachelor of Science Degree Program, and the school introduced its first master's program, in Entertainment Business. As Full Sail is a technology college, it does not offer music composition. It does offer a music business degree. Full Sail, which is located in Orlando, Florida, is accredited by a career college accrediting association rather than a regional accrediting association, so if you are interested in transferring to another college it is unlikely that your Full Sail credits would be accepted. The accrediting association that accredits such colleges as Rollins in Winter Park, Florida, is the SACS, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Rollins has an outstanding music program which includes courses in music composition. According to the testimonials on its web site, Full Sail is well respected for the specialized courses it teaches. The courses related to music are record label development, music business law and contract negotiation, artist management, music copyright and publishing, etc. http://www.fullsail.com/flash/index.cfm?degree=music-business s
I need to know the facts about this school. Can anybody tell me more information? I saw one other question like this, but I want to know if it's a good school to go to, if anybody else on here has gone, and what they can tell me about it! All information will be helpful! Thanks a lot! :)

I think it's one of those schools like DeVry University. I went to DeVry, and it was horrible. The social life is lacking, and none of the staff knew how to do their jobs. FullSail, on the other hand, is one of the top schools for people who want to go into special fields like recording arts, movie production, digital animation, etc. They advertise well, and I think it'd be better than DeVry University. However, advertisements can easily cover up the truth. The school might not be so great. It all really depends on what you want to do. I'm willing to bet that your social life will fall apart if you go there rather than a university, though. Go to FullSail's website. You can request free information. I did, because I was thinking of transferring there. They send you a book with a complete breakdown of all the programs and course listings. It's probably the best info you'll get.
And are you in the entertainment industry? Are you an alumni? Employer? What are your personal opinions?

The Full Sail School is here in Orlando. I work in the military defense industry and I can tell you they hire a lot of Full Sail grads to do animation, modeling and simulation (locally). I have known a couple of graduates and students and they said they got a great education there learning and doing what they want to do for real life applications. If you haven't you should probably tour the school.
Although they are acredited by the Accsct and such. And all of the packets they have sent me have said they are in the top 5 video game development programs in the world, i am looking for other's opinions on the college.

My son was considering Full Sail last term. We went down for one of their tours and it seemed like a top knotch production. He was very impressed but ended up going to work as he had a job offer he didn't feel he could pass up; What you need to do is call and set up a tour time, they have discounts for hotels. I guess it would depend on your talents, how much effort you put into it and a little bit of luck. At the end of the tour they showed a film about all the people who went through their program and ended up with great jobs. Of course many more didn't , I'm sure.
