Description

Established in 1948 as Danville Beauty School, Concept College of Cosmetology has a long tradition of training beauty professionals. Though the school incorporated a second location in Urbana in 1989, the Danville location is Concept’s original campus.

Concept College offers a 1500-hour cosmetology course designed to meet Illinois State Board requirements and prepare you for salon work right after graduation. The course can be completed in 50 weeks, and it covers a variety of subjects, a few of which include men’s and women’s styling, manicuring and pedicuring, facials and makeup.

Because cosmetology is about more than just technique and theory, Concept’s curriculum also includes classes on people skills, salesmanship, and the business of managing a salon. This is particularly useful if you’re interested in opening your own salon.

If you’re interested in adding academics to your vocational studies, Concept has a partnership with Danville Area Community College. You can take classes at DACC while studying at Concept, or convert your Concept clock hours into DACC credits. Every 500 clock hours transfer into 12 credit hours, so you can have nearly 40 credits toward an associate’s degree by the time you finish your cosmetology education.
