Early College Start Program

High school students are eligible to take college credit classes through ACC's Early College Start (ECS) program. These students are able to enroll in ACC and receive "Dual Credit," a credit which counts as a high school credit as well as a college credit. Austin CC is the only accredited school in the city of Austin. Check here: http://jrcert.org/cert/Search.jsp or http://arrt.org/index.html?content=http://www.arrt.org/nd/listOfSchools.ndm/listSchools&iframe=yes to find other accredited schools near you. Do not go to a school that isn't accredited. Also, if you can't decide which school to choose, find out each school's registry pass rate (my school's rate was 100% first time). If the school has a low pass rate, that says a lot about the quality of the education you would receive there. You will take things like anatomy and physiology, physics, radiation protection, pathology, positioning, ethics, terminology, etc.

Austin Community College has something like 4 different campuses spread throughout Austin. Depending upon which campus you happen to be at, it won't be that far. The closest is probably the Riverside campus - maybe 4-5 miles. It's also the nicest campus, by the way. Access to UT from Riverside is very easy - take Riverside to Interstate 35 North and watch for the UT signs.
