Description

North Georgia College & State University (NGCSU), located in Dahlonega, Lumpkin County, Georgia, is a four-year university known as “The Military College of Georgia”.

Academics at this school are as diverse, much like its student body. With more than 50 degrees to choose from, this school offers an array of programs ranging from nursing and education to military and philosophy.

In addition to the regular admissions process, individuals planning to major in Nursing, Teacher Education, Athletic Training, or Exercise Science will have to fill out and submit additional paperwork.

With more than 900 military cadets living on campus, college life is a blend of military tradition and general academia. As cadets are required to wear their uniforms while on campus, the student body can see the visual presence of the military at their school.

For students who prefer their activities a little less regimented, there are many clubs, organizations and Greek houses in which they can get involved.

Tuition varies depending on residency, with in-state tuition costing less than out-of-state tuition.

North Georgia College and State University Dahlonega financial aid is available through grants, loans and scholarships to those who qualify.

I like the school because it is small and quiet with nice housing. I dislike the school because the school officials could care less about students (for example, they once made everyone go to class while a tornado siren was blaring because a tornado touched down just miles from the school) and the dining hall is terrible and gives me a stomach ache every night.

Not my cup of tea, to be quite honest. I can see why some want to go here-- there's a rich military history as one of the senior military colleges in the US. However, if you're not in the military, there isn't a ton to be proud of. I just wish I was at a bigger school, with more to offer. I want to be in a more academically stimulating environment.
