Description

At Northern Tier Career Center in Towanda, Pennsylvania secondary students have the opportunity to get a head start on a medical, industrial or service career while getting college credits.

Students enrolled in Athens, Canton, Sayre, Towanda, Troy and other area school districts are eligible to enroll at Northern Tier where they may study Automotive Mechanics, Building Construction, Cosmetology, and a program to become a Nurse’s Aide among other professional fields.

Students participating in these programs may use their credits to transfer to a community college or four-year school. After completion of coursework in their department, they are also eligible to earn certifications or licenses to work in certain fields.

Since students work at their own pace, the program is individualized and allows students to learn and absorb concepts in their own way.

An additional adult education program in Practical Nursing is offered for those who have graduated from high school or have a GED.

Career counselors are on staff to help students with the process of seeking work or transferring to a college.

Through the SOAR program, tuition assistance is available to students who qualify.
