Macon State College, founded in 1968, has grown from a small junior college of 1,100 students to the largest undergraduate college in Central Georgia. The college prepares students to succeed in a technology-rich, information-driven global economy while developing important life and citizenship skills through a solid foundation in the liberal arts.

Affordable and accessible, its professionally oriented degree programs are concentrated in selected disciplines that lead to rewarding careers and enhance the economic and cultural vitality of Central Georgia.

With beautiful facilities in Macon and Warner Robins, the College is focused on providing professionally oriented programs to address the workforce needs of Georgia. Our baccalaureate degree programs are market-driven disciplines essential to the economic vitality of Central Georgia. The College continues to prepare students to compete in a technologically advanced global economy while developing important life skills and a firm foundation in the liberal arts. The 168-acre Macon Campus, located in western Bibb County near the intersection of U.S. Highway 80 and Interstate 475, is our oldest and largest campus, with 13 major structures committed to academic and student support.

Macon State College, formerly Macon College and Macon Junior College, is a four year undergraduate institution of the University System of Georgia located in Macon, Georgia with a satellite campus in Warner Robins, Georgia.

The college offers 29 majors in 17 bachelor's degree programs -- biology, business & information technology, communications & information technology, early childhood education, middle grades education, English, health information management, health services administration, history, information technology, interdisciplinary studies, mathematics, nursing (generic & RN-BSN), public service and respiratory therapy. Associate degrees also are offered.

With an affordable tuition designed to encourage access to the University System, as well as excellent instruction offered in convenient locations, Macon State has become the largest college in Central Georgia and one of the state's fastest growing. In the fall of 2008, Macon State had 6,431 students. Macon State continues to fulfill its mission of serving the region's residents and its economic interests by providing higher education programs of recognized quality.

Macon State's main campus is located on on College Station Drive, near Eisenhower Parkway (US 80), in western Bibb County, Georgia. The Warner Robins campus is located on along Watson Boulevard, just a half-mile from the main gate of Robins Air Force Base. The college's current president is Dr. David A. Bell.

History

The history of Macon State College began in 1965, when the University System of Georgia's Board of Regents passed a resolution to create a public two-year college in Middle Georgia. Subsequently, the voters of Bibb County approved a bond issue to fund the college.

Macon Junior College, as it was then known, opened its doors in 1968 to the largest enrollment ever for a new state college in Georgia. In 1970, the Board of Regents directed Macon Junior College to serve civilian and military employees at Robins Air Force Base. The Robins Resident Center, located on the base, was subsequently established.

I'm not seeing a "music building" on their campus map. Address for the entire college is 100 College Station Drive Macon GA 31206 Here's a link to the campus map. Elsewhere on the web site they mention that the music classrooms are in the arts complex. http://www.maconstate.edu/maps/docs/newcampusmap.pdf So get to the college entrance, head towards the east parking lot and walk towards the arts complex building.
