Question: which college is much better LACC or Santa Monica?

I want to go to 2 years then tranfer to 4 years like Cal State Los Angeles. My major I want to study art like interior designer.

You'll get a fine education either place. SMC has one of the highest transfer rates of any community college and has a lot of great programs, but LACC is also a good school. (SMC does have a slightly better reputation because of its high transfer rate.) I work at UCLA and have worked with transfer students from both schools-- they all had a good experience and came to UCLA very well prepared. Which one is more convenient to where you live?

Depends. What are u interested in? If ur trying to save money before transfering to another university or college, then SMC (santa monica college) is fine; if u want to look for strength in education, maybe not so much. Think about what you're looking for; then pick the college that you feel is the best fit for you. Try to visit and broaden your horizon; there are other excellent colleges as well as state universities, JC's, etc. that you can look into. PS. a handy place to look for information is http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/rankindex_brief.php this place ranks everything down by region, money, small vs. big, etc.

Question: Santa Monica College (SMC) or Los Angeles Community College (LACC) for art?

A friend of mine decided she wanted to go back to school to finish up her art degree. She is deciding between SMC and LACC. She lives very close to LACC, but will go to SMC if it has a better art program. Anybody know anything about either of these schools' art programs?

I have a ton of friends who go to SMC and my roomate is actually an Archatecture/Interior Design Major... She's into the arts and she has taken most of the art classes offered. She loves them...

Question: Which of these colleges is better to attend?

I have been looking at three colleges. Southwest city college, Los Angeles city college, and Los Angeles Harbor college. I have been to Southwest and I like the campus and the size. I also have been to LACC and this school is a good size and has a good reputation in academics and well as southwest and harbor. Now harbor college I dont know much about. I did research on all the schools but I have not been able to choose. My question is which school would you recommend? Based on what you know and what I some what provided.

This depends upon whether your plan is to stop with the Associates' degree, or whether you want to transfer to a four-year college after two years. LACC has some good vocational programs, but I wouldn't think of any of these as being among the stronger community colleges in the L.A. area for academics, at least if you are university-bound. For that, I would look at Santa Monica CC, El Camino, or Pasadena CC. If you are interested in vocational programs, the others each have specific programs, and the one you choose would be the one which interests you.
