Morris College, located in Sumter, South Carolina, is a four-year, coeducational, liberal arts, private, historically black college which operates under the Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention.
The college was founded in 1908 as a college as well as high school and grade school. It is named after Rev. Frank Morris. The college's first president was Dr. Edward M. Brawley. It awarded its first bachelor's degree in 1915.
Dr. John Jacob Stark was its president from 1912 to 1930. Dr. Odell Reubens was president from 1948 to 1970. The college was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1978.
Dr. Luns C. Richardson is the college current president, having served over 33 years in office here.
