Description

Finlandia University is a learning community dedicated to academic excellence, spiritual growth and service.

Finlandia University is a private university located in Hancock, Michigan, on the Keweenaw Peninsula. Finnish immigrants founded Finlandia in 1896 as Suomi College as the school for the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Approximately 550 students attend Finlandia.

Finlandia University offers students a diverse curriculum and an atmosphere that is supportive and friendly to each of its 550 students. The intimate learning environment that our students find in our small classes, and the relationships and friendships they forge with their classmates and employees of the university last a lifetime. If you are looking for approachable faculty, the opportunity to experience our academic excellence, and the chance to gain the skill and knowledge base to make you successful in the 21st century, Finlandia is the place for you.

At Finlandia University two- or four-year degree programs are offered by two schools and two colleges in the disciplines of liberal and professional studies, health sciences, business, and fine arts.

From student clubs and organizations, Campus Ministry and community service opportunities to year-round outdoor recreation and an active local music and arts scene, there's always somehing to do at Finlandia and in the Copper Country.

Finlandia University is in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula just minutes from the southern shore of Lake Superior. Natural beauty, mining and immigrant history, a thriving arts community, and year-round outdoor recreation opportunities are plentiful in this region known as the Copper Country.
