Description

Located in Williamsville, the New York Institute of Massage provides a comprehensive massage therapy education for residents of the greater Buffalo area.

The Institute’s program consists of 48 weeks of full-time study (4.5 hours a day and 5 days a week). A 96-week part-time program, which meets 2 to 3 days per week, is also available.

The New York Institute’s curriculum gives its students a complete understanding of the human body, massage technique, and the business angle of the profession. In addition to classes on technique, students also learn about neurology, myology, and even pathology.

There’s even a course on business management, in case you want to start your own practice after graduation.

The Institute participates in several federal financial aid programs, including Pell grants and Stafford loans. NYIM also offers a limited number of scholarships to help with required materials.

The application process at the New York Institute is a little more extensive than similar schools’. Along with your admissions application and your high school transcript or GED, you must also send a medical release form, two letters of recommendation, and a background check release form. Two interviews are required, with the second one including admissions testing.
