Description
The Madison Oneida BOCES Consortium of Continuing Education Adult Practical Nursing Program in Verona, New York, aims to teach adults not only nursing theory, but also bedside nursing skills necessary to care for patients of all ages. The program is designed to prepare adult students to take the National Council Licensure Examination.
The program is an 11-month, 1,260-hour program wherein students must complete classroom theory lessons, develop practical nursing skills through laboratory work, and train firsthand in hospital sites.
To be eligible for practical nursing certification, students must study and work seven hours a day in a classroom or lab, as well as eight and a half clinical hours for each clinical day.
Upon graduation and certification, students can become registered as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of New York with the skills to give injections, help patients with personal hygiene, perform laboratory tests, measure vital signs, record patient health histories, and more.
Graduates will also be qualified to work in a variety of healthcare settings, or be prepared to continue their healthcare education.
Other certifications available through the practical nursing program include Vocational Nurse Training, where students prepare for a professional career in caring for the sick, disabled, injured, and convalescent under registered nurses or physicians.
