Clearwater Christian College has a two-fold mission: to deliver a quality eduation based on sound academic instruction in the context of the historic Christian faith and to help students develop the qualities of character that will enable them to lead fulfilling lives pleasing to both God and man (Proverbs 3:4).
Clearwater Christian College (CCC) is a non-denominational Christian college in Clearwater, Florida. The school has an enrollment around six hundred students. Clearwater Christian College was founded in 1966. CCC has majors in the divisions of Biblical Studies, Humanities, Business, Education, Fine Arts, and Sciences, for a total of thirty different majors. The current president of CCC is Richard Stratton.
Clearwater is known for rules such as a modest dress code, 10:30 pm curfew during the weekdays, room responsibilities, and mandatory daily chapel attendance. The school holds a demerit system enforced to discipline students when rules are broken. However, it is generally regarded as the more lenient alternative to other (predominantly) fundamentalist Christian institutions of higher learning such as Pensacola Christian College and Bob Jones University. According to U.S. News and World Report, Clearwater Christian College had a 59% retention rate for freshman in the 2006 entering class.
Clearwater Christian College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Science degrees. Clearwater has been given Teacher Education Program Approval by the Florida Department of Education.
