Central Penn's mission is to provide an education that prepares its graduates to obtain employment in their chosen field, continue their education and be contributing members of society.
2004 Catalog, p 6.
Central Pennsylvania College is America's largest career-oriented college located in the suburban Harrisburg, Pennsylvania neighborhood of Summerdale.
Established in 1881, Central Penn, formerly known as Central Pennsylvania Business School, officially changed its name in 1999 to better characterize the diversity of the school's academic programs. Central Penn offers two-year associate's degree and three- and four-year bachelor's degree programs to its students. The college offers on-campus housing, but about 60 percent of the school’s students commute.
The school’s library, the Charles T. Jones Library, features a learning resource center open to the public. A swimming pool, a hot tub, basketball and volleyball courts and picnic areas also are features of the drug- and alcohol-free campus. The college is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
The main campus of Central Pennsylvania College is located in Summerdale. This campus comprises five academic buildings, the Charles T. Jones Leadership Library, 34 student townhouses, six apartment buildings, the Kids On Campus Child Development Center, and the Boyer House and farm grounds.
Dedicated in 2001, the ATEC building is one of the newest buildings on campus. The third floor of ATEC contains the Admissions Office, Continuing Education Office, and many computer labs. A reception area, the Academic Dean's Office, a crime lab, and many general classrooms are on the second floor. The main level of ATEC houses the Conference Center and banquet and reception halls, the Scoozi Cafe, the Student Lounge as well as student mailboxes and a kiosk branch of AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union.
Bollinger Hall houses both the Business Administration and Criminal Justice division offices, the Security Office, the Residence Life and Facilities Directors, the Central Penn Travel Center, the Computer-Integrated Courtroom, and several traditional classrooms.
