Stark State College of Technology (SSCT) is a state college located in North Canton, Ohio, USA. It is the largest of five colleges and universities in Stark County, and Ohio’s largest technical college. In 2006, the United States Department of Education ranked Stark State College as 7th among the top 50 fastest growing public two-year colleges in the nation by headcount.

Open Door Policy

Stark State uses the Open Door Policy. The open admission policy allows a student to enroll in the College, but not in a specific degree-granted program. Normal admission to the college is open to anyone who is a high school graduate or an equivalent, completes the enrollment procedures, and pays the fees for admission. This is exclusive of academic record or placement testing results. This open door policy does not deny specific technology departments the right to require preliminary training or talent.

Admissions

  • A student must successfully complete one of their attempted courses each semester.
  • An associate degree must be completed within 99 (semester equivalent) enrolled credit hours.
  • A student must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 1.5 until 30 hours are completed, and a GPA of 2.0 afterwards.
