Description

The mission of CET is based on a philosophy of self-determination. CET seeks to promote the human development and education of low income people by providing them with marketable skills training and supportive services that contribute to economic self-sefficiency.

The Center for Employment Training (CET) is one of the country's largest, most effective employment training programs, focused on those who need help the most. A nonprofit organization, CET was established and headquartered in San Jose, CA in 1967 and has grown to a national network of 33 educational centers in 12 states. Working in joint venture with the private sector, CET has successfully trained and placed more than 100,000 people over the last 35 years.

CET's Chicago training facility is located at 3333 West Arthington in the heart of the North Lawndale community. While the building itself is known as Homan Square, it is positioned in the original cooperate headquarters of Sears.

The entire facility has been re-developed as a diverse center consisting of community organizations, government agencies, and business offices. CET currently occupies the entire East wing of the Homan Square building, located on the fifth floor, Suite 510.

CET Chicago has served Cook County for some 9 years and has repeatedly demonstrated its capacity to serve hundreds of students each year; current student enrollment is approximately 160 student/clients in daily attendance.

Locally, we have maintained an average placement rate of 86% during most of our years of service to Cook County.
