CSB SJU Description

The College of Saint Benedict in Saint Joseph, Minnesota, is a small, Benedictine Catholic college that emphasizes both spiritual practice and academic rigor. In addition to a full range of academics, Saint Benedict also offers cultural and creative arts activities and a comprehensive study abroad program.

Academics are challenging and admissions are competitive: College of Saint Benedict students generally excelled academically in high school, with the middle 50% having had between a 3.4 and 3.9 high school grade point average and an SAT score of at least 1500.

In addition to rigorous academics, Saint Benedict also offers a spiritually strong community, which includes a campus liturgy, faith-based student groups and a ministry committed to spirituality and social justice.

Other college life activities include theatre and music performances, art exhibits, literary readings and academic lectures.

Saint Benedict also gives students the opportunity to have experiences in such countries as Australia, Chile, France, Guatemala, and Japan through its study abroad program.

When filling out an online application and submitting transcripts and a writing sample, prospective students may also apply for financial aid. Aid awards include need-based sources such as grants, work-study and student loans.

There are also talent scholarships for art, music and theatre students and grants for those who plan to go into the teaching field.
