Overall

I love being a student of San Jose State University. They have so many different programs to offer students. The orientation provides so much information to the students and the parents and is so much fun. They provide a lot of school spirit and make it exciting to be a part of.

Academics

I like the programs and classes that I have enrolled in thus far. They help us academically with enrolling in classes in a proper time frame. The MySJSU website is such a helpful tool that keeps us on target to make sure we are ahead of the game and getting our items completed in a timely manner to avoid wait lists and so forth.

College Life

The atmosphere is amazing. There is so much school spirit. I have not attended many activities so far but the ones that i have been a part of are fun and very energetic. I have always felt safe on the campus and am looking forward to engaging in some of the clubs and activities that are available through the school.

Overall

The faculty is great here. I have no complaints about the academics really. I am getting a wonderful education. I would definitely recommend for prospective students to get housing near light rail or a bus, but anywhere in San Jose would be fine (though you should avoid the ghetto). I got a place near campus and realized that it was just as nice to have a place near light rail as it was to have a place near campus.

Academics

The workload is pretty standard for a master's program, maybe even a little on the light side. Class size is wonderful: about 15-25 usually. The Philosophy program is mostly slanted towards the phenomenology and existential side of philosophy. The professors are very accessible and willing to help.

College Life

This is definitely the weakest part of the school. It's a commuter school with little or no publicity about campus events. There was a live concert on the lawn outside my department building and I had no idea it was happening before they started playing. They really don't make the effort to let students in on extra-curricular events.

Overall

The campus is beautiful, covered with grass, trees and art. There are sculptures and artwork that adorn the campus that are inspirational and educational. The Student Union is under construction, but will feature many beneficial additions. The teachers are passionate and engaging. There is a diverse student body in terms of ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation. The students are also invested in school life, as evident by the presence of student organizations and clubs.

Academics

Classes are a touchy subject at the moment. Due to budget cuts, students are faced with issues they don't fully understand. Tuition increases are difficult for many of the students who commute or have to work full time. The classes offered vary depending on the semester, which make it difficult for students trying to graduate. In addition, adding classes after the start of school is incredibly difficult. However, the upside is the quality of the teachers at SJSU.

College Life

As previously mentioned, the student body is culturally diverse. There are clubs for many ethnic groups that have a strong campus presence. There are other groups that focus on specific majors that are helpful and inclusive for students. Personally, I am not a fan of athletics but there is something to be said of the athletics on campus. ESPN recently commissioned a video about SJSU athletics. San Jose also has a strong theater and art entertainment community that provides a great weekend activity for students to expand their horizons.

Overall

School is amazingly small which means convenient, with one of the most ethnically diverse campuses.

Academics

Aviation at SJSU does NOT have a flight training program but does have a club to earn hours.

College Life

The Frat life on campus is alive, as well as downtown clubs. SJSU also offers over 300 clubs.

Overall

I thought the level of education I received was decent to competitive. I had some very inspirational professors. The only disappointment was the lack of job placement after graduation. Other than that, I enjoyed SJSU.

Academics

Classes are relatively hard to secure after the budget cuts on public schools. Otherwise, classes were enjoyable. I was actually looking forward to going to class because the majority of my professors had charisma and a wealth of knowledge.

College Life

There were plenty of clubs and organizations on campus. We had a fair share of activities on campus. What was also nice was the fact that we had our own concert stage in the middle of school which was nice because popular bands often came and preformed. I, personally, never had any interest in any of the clubs, only the concerts.
