Davidson County Community College School Description

Davidson County Community College provides quality educational programs and services to prepare people for enhanced employment and educational opportunities.

DCCC serves approximately 16,000 students each year on the Davidson and Davie campuses and its three satellite centers. With over 50 curriculum programs, the campus continues to grow and expand its educational programs and services.

Davidson County Community College offers more than 50 instructional programs that prepare students to accomplish one or more of the following:

* prepare for employment opportunities
* transfer to senior colleges and universities
* achieve personal and professional goals

Some programs are offered during the evening as well as during the day. Academic advisors are available to assist students who need information and guidance in planning acceptable programs to meet their educational goals.

Full-time students can generally complete associate degree programs in two years. The associate degree is designed to provide general education courses for transfer to senior colleges and universities.

Diploma programs can generally be completed in three semesters on a full-time basis. Certificate programs may be completed in one or two semesters on a full-time or part-time basis. Both are designed to prepare students for employment, and courses earned often count toward a higher credential.

Student activities are viewed as an important dimension of each student's experience while attending Davidson County Community College, and the College encourages student involvement in all aspects of student and campus life. Students gain enjoyment, friends on campus, leadership skills, and experiences that are valued by both employers and four-year universities.

Clubs and organizations are designed to enhance the leadership, intellectual, cultural, and personal development of students. Members often establish lifelong friendships as a result of participating and working with others who share the same pastimes.
