Description

In terms of location, you can’t really do much better than Eckerd College. Home to some of the best weather in the country, St. Petersburg is a stone’s throw from the gulf coast and a short drive to the world-class entertainment, dining, and attractions of Tampa.

Eckerd College’s academics make great use of its location, as well. The school maintains outdoor laboratories on the Gulf Coast, making Eckerd a great place to study biology and environmental science. There are plenty of other options, too, with over 40 majors to choose from.

Eligible students at Eckerd may receive financial aid, and there are a variety of options available. The college offers scholarships based on academic merit, artistic achievement, athletic ability, and intent to research. You can also apply for state and federal aid, including the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship and the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship.

Student life at Eckerd is what you’d expect from a school on the ocean. Sailing, kayaking, and fishing are all common activities. Eckerd’s Waterfront Program sponsors a Sailing Team and Eckerd Search and Rescue. However, even students not involved in these teams have access to the Waterfront Program’s equipment and facilities.
