Holy Cross College From Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia

Holy Cross College is a Roman Catholic, co-educational, residential institution of higher education in Notre Dame, unincorporated St. Joseph County, Indiana, United States, immediately northeast of the City of South Bend. The College was founded in 1966 and it is administered by members of the Congregation of Holy Cross. The College’s unique baccalaureate program consists of three requirements that take students outside the classroom: a service project, an internship and an international experience. The addition of an athletics program has meant the College can now offer students an education in mind, body and spirit. This contemporary learning experience, paired with a caring college community, prepares each student for a lifetime of possibilities.

Majors/studies

Each student completes the same multidisciplinary core of courses, and then electives can be taken that will allow each student to gain knowledge and experience in areas of choice. The most popular major is liberal studies, but theology, education, psychology, business and history are also offered. In addition, students may elect to complete an optional academic concentration in several areas, including business and economics, information systems, literature, prelaw, psychology, and theology. Students have a major advisor, and those pursuing optional academic concentrations have a co-advisor.

As of 2008-2009, the number of majors available will be increased to include: Business, Education, Psychology, Communications, and History.

Campus Ministry

Among the most vibrant programs of the college is the Campus Ministry program. Billing itself as "Distinctively Catholic, Open to All" Campus Ministry offers many opportunities for spiritual growth in a Catholic setting. Central to campus spirituality is the Eucharist. Mass is offered on weekdays at 12:25 p.m. and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. GLORY is a Eucharistic Praise and Worship Holy Hour that precedes regular Eucharistic Adoration on Tuesday nights.

I live in Spencer MA, and it has been my dream to attend Holy Cross. It is a hard school to get into, let me tell you that. About 34% of all applicants are accepted. I just sent in all my stuff and I found college board and talking to admissions there very helpful Some of the main requirements are as follows Admission requirements: Essay(s) required, the essay is what really separates you from the rest, I was told that it is very important to focus on an essay that will grab the attention of the reader. HC does not require ACT/SAT scores (SAT around 1300, not including writing), however it is recommended that you would still take them, and send them in. Remember the key is to stand out and show you are committed. Other very important admission factors include your class rank (try aiming for the top 25%). Followed by the classes you take in High School. HC loves AP, they live for that stuff. Followed but your GPA ( Admissions wants above a 3.5, but they do have a sliding scale). Finally, they want to know what you did in high school, HC has so many activity's you can get involved in. Finally the interviews and letters of recommendations will help you get accepted. HC loves letters from alumni (hint). But it all boils down to the Level of Applicant's Interest. Well I hope this helps you out, feel free to talk to me anytime about HC, good luck getting in. Hey maybe I will see you there :-)
