MHC Description
Integrated education is the best way to define the Mars Hill College experience. Located against the Blue Ridge Mountains in Mars Hill, North Carolina, Mars Hill College provides classroom learning as well as integrated service and work opportunities.
Natural and Social Sciences, Modern Languages and Fine and Performing Arts are some of the subjects available for study at Mars Hill. Career-oriented majors are also offered in Business Administration, Education, Social Work and a few others.
Service at Mars Hill is an integral part of not just the student life, but of the academic life as well. Service at Mars Hill is actually integrated into one’s education through a program called Lifeworks. Through Lifeworks, students engage in one of over 70 community service opportunities related to various disciplines. Students participating in Lifeworks may tutor at-risk youth or build a Habitat for Humanity home.
Other service programs at Mars Hill come with fellowship and scholarship opportunities. That is, students work on a community service project while having part of their tuition paid for.
Service at Mars Hill is taken even a step further, giving students the chance to learn and exercise valuable professional skills. One Mars Hill service position, for example, gives students the chance to do research, write grants, coordinate activities and undertake administrative work.
Since it is a Christian school, worship is also part of the Mars Hill experience. Students regularly attend religious services and engage in other spiritual activities.
Clubs, recreational activities, campus events such as dances and participation in the school literary magazine are examples of the enrichment opportunities and social outlets that comprise the Mars Hill student life.
In addition to the scholarships and fellowships available at Mars Hill, need-based aid through loans and grants may also be applied for.
Transcripts and SAT scores are some of the documents required for admission.
