Charles A. Jones Career & Education Center (CAJ)
5451 Lemon Hill Ave, Sacramento, CA 95824
CAJ Description
Located in Sacramento, the Charles A. Jones Career & Education Center provides vocational training and GED preparation. It offers 15 programs for in-demand careers through its six schools:* School of Court Reporting
* School of Culinary Arts
* School of Electronic Occupations
* School of Office Occupations
* School of Transportation Technology
* School of Vocational Nursing & Health Sciences
The admissions process is fairly straightforward: for daytime classes, students must attend an orientation and take an assessment test on basic reading, writing and math skills. For evening classes, the orientation and assessment test are not necessary.
Though the Charles A. Jones Career & Education Center does not offer scholarships itself, students can apply for federal financial aid as well as a number of private scholarships. For example, the California Chafee Grant provides aid to foster children who seek vocational training, and the Sacramento Training Employment Program provides assistance for low-income youth.
Programs begin every six weeks (the full schedule is posted on CAJ’s website). The school has fall, spring, and summer terms, with graduation ceremonies are held in November and June.
