Midway College, Kentucky's women's college, provides a living, learning environment that enables students to assume roles of responsibility and leadership as contemporary women. The College assists each student in the development of personal integration and self sufficiency through a strong liberal arts education and through career studies, both at the associate and baccalaureate degree levels.

The college seeks to serve the larger community by educating women intellectually, ethically, and spiritually to be productive participants in society, responsible citizens in a democracy, and conservators and reformers of the best elements of their culture.

As Kentucky's only college for women and as a forerunner in coeducational adult accelerated learning, Midway College empowers undergraduate and graduate students as leaders through a professionally-oriented liberal arts education.

The college further seeks to assist both women and men who are employed and of non-traditional college age to earn undergraduate degrees in the degree completion programs available through the School for Career Development and Midway College Online. The institution that has become Midway College was established in 1847 to prepare financially disadvantaged young women for teaching careers. The intensive schooling and career training available at Midway armed these women with the skills necessary for independence.

Midway College fulfills a unique role in the education of contemporary women. It provides an avenue for women to gain a quality education, achieve independence through career preparation and strive for intellectual enlightenment.

The main campus is at Midway, KY, in the heart of the bluegrass region of Kentucky. There is also a campus in Lexington, KY, as well as programs offered at a number of off-site locations throughout Kentucky. Ten minutes away are the cities of Lexington, Frankfort, Georgetown and Versailles. Louisville and Cincinnati are an hour from Midway.

Midway is an independent, liberal arts college with approximately 1,700 students, related by covenant to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) offering two and four-year degrees, located in Midway, Kentucky. Midway is the only women's college in Kentucky. The all-female Day College offers majors in four pillar programs: business, equine studies, nursing, and teacher education. Athletic teams include: cross country, track, volleyball, soccer, basketball, softball, tennis, equestrian hunt seat, western and eventing.

In addition to the Day College, Midway College offers programs to adult men and women, through the evening and weekend School for Career Development (SCD), offered on the Midway Campus and in more than 18 sites across Kentucky, and also through Midway College ONLINE. Both SCD and ONLINE offer accelerated degree-completion programs for working adults in popular programs such as Organizational Administration and Leadership, Homeland Security Corporate Management and Assessment, and Teacher Education, among others.

History

The mission of Midway College: "As Kentucky's only college for Women and as a forerunner in coeducational adult accelerated learning, Midway College empowers undergraduate and graduate students as leaders through a professionally-oriented liberal arts education."

Campus

The school is located on a working farm in the heart of the Kentucky Bluegrass region. The campus overlooks Midway, a small town in central Kentucky. The National Park Service placed Pinkerton Hall, the oldest building on campus, on the National Register of Historic Places on November 20, 1974.

Academic buildings

Equine Education Center houses a x 235 foot indoor riding arena, eight stalls, laboratory, classroom, a large tack room, audio-visual room, wash stall and faculty offices.

Keeneland Equine Education Center contains an indoor riding arena, 16 stalls, a tack room, washroom and office space.
