School Description

Provided by Indiana University-East

The campuses of Indiana University are currently involved in a comprehensive review of their respective missions. The Indiana Commission for Higher Education retains authority to review and approve such missions. The following paragraphs are drawn from the last approved mission statements.

The primary mission of Indiana University-East is to provide opportunities for formal learning through instructional programs that lead to the completion of associate or baccalaureate degrees. In performing this mission, the campus often works cooperatively in the development and delivery of instructional programs with schools within the University and with other public or private institutions including Purdue University, Ball State University, Indiana Vocational Technical College and Earlham College. This cooperation insures to regional citizens the broadest choice and greatest mobility within postsecondary education while securing the most effective use of state support and student tuition. A second mission is to provide professional service to organizations, groups and communities in east central Indiana. In pursuit of its instructional and service missions, Indiana University-East is committed to human development, to the betterment of all those who come into substantive contact with the campus.
