I guess it depends on whether you are a junior or senior and whether you have taken/ are taking the required college prep classes in high school and your gpa on a 4.0 scale and how this translates to class rank, and your SAT scores. July 1st is the deadline to apply for Fall 2009. http://prospect.tamucc.edu/deadlines.html Here are the requirements for automatic admission: http://admissions.tamucc.edu/freshman/ If you cannot meet these and are not admitted under alternative admissions, you can post 30 units at a community college and then apply as a transfer student. Only the junior college grades will be considered. Here is the profile for Texas A & M Corpus Christi: http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/CollegeDetail.jsp?collegeId=142&profileId=6 If you go the transfer route, you might want to consider UT Austin. UT Austin accepts transfer students with 30 units completed at a junior college or other university. High school grades are not considered. Neither are SAT scores. Only the transfer coursework is considered: http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/transfer/index.html http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/transfer/admission/factors/index.html http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/transfer/admission/factors/gpa/index.html http://registrar.utexas.edu/catalogs/gi07-08/ch02/ch02b.html http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/transfer/admission/index.html Another possibility that might be more interesting than an everyday community college is to go to NMMI for a year and then transfer. Even with a 70-80 average you'd be admitted and they are still accepting applications. The entire cost for out of state students is less than Texas A & M Corpus Christi. The classes are quite small, usually 15 students or less. In any event, it would keep you on a schedule and studying to make sure you got the work done to transfer: http://www.nmmi.edu/business/newcosts.htm http://prospect.tamucc.edu/tuition.html Also less than either UT Austin, Texas A & M: http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/whyut/basics/finances/index.html https://financialaid.tamu.edu/futureaggies.asp?mainkey=41&pop=2&disp=2 By staying at NMMI 2 years before transferring, could commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. With the ECP program, NMMI or any of the 4 other military jc's are essentially free of cost: http://www.nmmi.edu/rotc/ http://www.vfmac.edu/ecp.html Another interesting College in Texas: http://www.tamug.edu/Corps/ Grads can direct commission as officers in the Coast Guard but the academic majors are very limited and all marine related: http://www.gocoastguard.com/find-your-fit/officer-opportunities/programs/maritime-academy-graduate Not sure if Coast Guard CSPI is available as it is at Cal Maritime: http://www.gocoastguard.com/find-your-fit/officer-opportunities/programs/college-student-pre-commissioning-initiative http://www.csum.edu/Military/MilitaryOptions.asp NROTC/NROTC MO is also available at both schools or at cross town schools: http://navyrotc.berkeley.edu/ http://www.lukeswartz.com/nrotc.html http://www.arwu.org/rank2008/ARWU2008_A(EN).htm PLC is available to a student at any JC or University: http://marineofficer.com/page/Earning-a-Commission-O.jsp http://dcmarineofficer.com/platoonleadersclass.html http://dcmarineofficer.com/welcomeaboard.html http://dcmarineofficer.com/preparation.html Calculate regular military compensation for various ranks and locations at the following link. Question: What should I consider when choosing a college to attend?

I'm a high school senior in Dallas, tx planning to attend a 4 year university in the fall. I've already been accepted to Texas a&m corpus christi, university of houston, and Clark Atlanta University, and I'm not sure on which one to pick. I'm trying to keep in mind the cost, distance, etc. UGGHHH so many decisions in so little time! PLZ HELP! thnx :-)

Well, you've already said that you care about the cost and distance, so do research on those and see which is preferable. Also, if you have in mind what major you're interested in, research which college is more suitable for it. Other things you may or may not want to research about depending on what type on person you are: Proximity to shopping places and the airport - rural or in the city, etc Sports, clubs, events Size of classes, amount of people in school versus number of professors and size of college (depending on whether you want to be more anonymous or not) classes offered. type of system - some colleges don't do the 2 semester thing. Requirements - some don't require, some do. The weather - any extremes? Partying and drugs and liberalness - again, depending on you, you may or may not prefer a more conservative atmosphere. Also, whether you like it or not, your parents might want a say in this too.

Corpus Christi IS a beautiful place and the campus is right near the water and has a great view of what Corpus is all about. However, the climate is very humid and it can get really hot so you might want to prepare yourself for that. As far as the university, I know they have good biology programs available and they do all they can to help out their students. Hope I helped!

Question: Is the Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi a good University?

Yes, they do offer what I want to study, but I do not have much information about the campus. I am interested in it, and I want all the information I can find. Thank you all for your responses.

It is a pretty good school. I live in San Antonio myself , so Corpus isn't far, and there's actually a LOT of colleges in this area. I chose not to go to A&M in Corpus simply because it's CORPUS. I hope you realize that like everyone within a 3-4 hour radius goes down to Corpus and South Padre Island for spring break. That's the whole reason I could never go to college there. A college by the beach?? I would NEVER study!
