UMSL Description
One of the largest universities in the state and the largest in the city of St. Louis, University of Missouri St. Louis offers comprehensive academics, student life opportunities and financial aid awards.
UM St. Louis has different categories of degree programs, including bachelors, masters, and undergraduate and graduate certificates.
Majors span the arts, sciences and professional fields, featuring well over 100 offerings, which include everything from Civil Engineering to Film Studies to Archaeology to Nursing.
Students may also take on specializations within their major. For example, a Music major may specialize in Jazz Studies and a Philosophy major may specialize in Ethics.
At the graduate level, students may pursue everything from an MFA in Creative Writing to a Master’s in Social Work to a degree in Optometry.
Student life also features diverse offerings, including campus events such as workshops and lectures, dozens of student organizations and community service activities. Within the city of St. Louis there is also much to be found in terms of shopping, eating and the arts.
Student financial aid awards are also plentiful. The school offers automatic scholarships, which are automatically given if students meet certain academic criteria. There are also other academic scholarships for which students may apply. Federal aid programs provide loans, grants and work-study.
In addition to an online application, freshmen applicants will need to submit test scores and transcripts. Undergraduate applicants that have a grade point average of 3.5 in certain high school courses are given automatic admission Minimum test score requirements are 1090 on the SAT and 24 on the ACT.
