Description
“The ACJVS and its experienced staff provided me with the training and experiences that prepared me for electrical engineering courses and….an accelerated career,” reads a quote from a former Ashtabula County Vocational School (ACJVS) student. Located in Jefferson, Ohio, ACJVS boasts many such graduate success stories from students who benefited from its intense, rigorous studies.
A vocational-technical institute for high school and adult students alike, Ashtabula County Vocational School offers programs in such fields as cosmetology, health sciences, culinary arts and technical and industrial fields.
Classes at Ashtabula are rigorous, and instructors are all highly qualified both in their fields and as professional educators.
Adding to the educational experience are the advisory committees. These consist of local employers and employees within a student’s field of study and serve in a mentoring capacity.
All students are also required to join an on-campus career and technical organization related to their field of study. Student-members participate in national competitions, thereby improving professional skills, developing competitive muscle, and strengthening social skills.
Some of the student support services offered include career and transfer counseling, a student health center, and GRADS, a program designed to support teenage parents attending ACJVS.
In addition to loans, Pell grants and veteran’s assistance for eligible students, there is also tuition assistance for qualifying Ohio state residents.
