At Neumont, we're all about technology and its practical application. We won't waste you're your time (or ours) with information that won't benefit you when you graduate. We think the process of building technologies is like an art. In fact, the word technology is rooted in the Greek word techne, meaning art or skill.
See? That's a great example of the useless information you won't be learning here.
Like we said, it's a real-world, applicable, get-you-a-job-when-you-graduate education that doesn't lose focus because of frat parties and football games. Sure, we've got our own form of socializing (usually separated by LCDs and fiber optics) and there's time to do your own thing, but make no mistake: our programs are intensely focused on providing the most comprehensive and applicable education possible.
Neumont University offers a nationally respected curriculum that is innovation focused with an emphasis on problem and project-based learning. Our curriculum was developed in partnership with industry leaders and partners students with companies like IBM, Oracle, and Novell to give them an opportunity to learn while building software solutions in an environment that mirrors the corporate world.
We offer the following programs:
A 5-quarter Associates of Science in Computer Science
A 10-quarter Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
A full and part-time Master of Science in Computer Science
The Neumont University campus is 48,000 square feet of glass, marble and steel, located in a high-end corporate community nestled against the west bank of the Jordan River Parkway in South Jordan, Utah. Our campus is situated within miles of some of the nation’s largest technology employers including eBay, Oracle, Novell, and CA.
Neumont University is a for-profit private university founded in 2003 by Graham Doxey, Scott McKinley, and Marlow Einelund. It is currently headquartered in South Jordan, Utah.
Neumont offers an immersive four-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree that most students complete in two and one-half years and a Master of Computer Science (MCS) degree in one- and two-year formats. The University is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.
Neumont University was founded in June 2002 as North Face Learning by Graham Doxey, Marlow Einelund, and Scott McKinley. North Face Learning was approved by the Department of Education in a letter dated March 19, 2003, to take operating control of Morrison University in Reno, NV and became Northface University. In a letter dated May 22, 2003, Northface University was approved by the ACICS to open a new branch in Utah and to offer a new program in Computer Science. IBM, Microsoft, and Unisys collaborated with the school in the earliest stages to create a project-based curriculum. Since October 2005, many other local and national companies such as EDS, ACS, Novell, CA, eBay, ExtendHealth, Medicity, and Oracle Corporation have joined with IBM and Microsoft in sponsoring Enterprise Projects that facilitate learning in a real-world project focused environment.
The first campus was opened to students in Salt Lake City in January 2004. Later that year, Neumont University relocated to 2 floors in a glass, steel, and granite structure nestled against the west bank of the Jordan River. The campus features high-tech lecture halls, project rooms, and a wireless internet network across the entire campus.
The ACICS approved a name change in July 22, 2005 by letter. Northface University changed its name to Neumont University following threats of legal action by The North Face, a clothing manufacturer.

College Advice on Neumont University |
Question: Has anybody ever heard of Neumont University? is it a good campus for grad studies or not?19 months ago
Best AnswerNeumont University is very, very new. It's not regionally accredited, which is the minimum type of accreditation I want a university to have in order to recommend it. I don't know if it's going to try to become regionally accredited. So I am wary. That said, it does seem reputable, based on what I can see. It certainly does not seem to be a diploma mill, or a scam, or disreputable. They are almost unknown, though, because they are so new. And because they aren't regionally accredited, it's possible that some employers would have issues with their degrees. I don't know enough about them to tell if the education there is any good. It could well be, I simply don't know them well enough to judge. Interestingly enough, the school has its own forum for students and prospective students, so you can ask current students what they think of the place here: http://www.neumontforums.com/Forums/tabid/55/Default.aspx |
