School Description
Provided by Kent State University- AshtabulaIf you’re looking for a unique Ohio university with a diverse roster of learning locales, look to Kent State University. The Regional Campuses are a network of seven community-oriented institutions within the university. Three of them - the Ashtabula, East Liverpool and Salem campuses - are named for the cities where they are located. The remaining four - Geauga, Stark, Trumbull and Tuscarawas campuses - are named for their counties and are located near the cities of Burton, Canton, Warren and New Philadelphia, respectively.
The mission of Kent State University is to prepare students for responsible citizenship and productive careers, broaden intellectual perspectives and foster ethical and humanitarian values. Our faculty and staff are engaged in teaching, research, creative expression, service and partnerships that address the needs of a complex and changing world. Kent State's eight-campus network, anchored by the largest residential campus in the region, serves as a key resource for economic, social, cultural and technological advancement. Kent State is a supportive and inclusive learning community devoted to teaching excellence and academic freedom. By discovering and sharing knowledge in a broad array of graduate and undergraduate programs, Kent State University meets the dynamic needs of a global society.
The Ashtabula Campus sits on an 80-acre site that overlooks Lake Erie on Route 531. The campus includes three buildings that house classrooms, administrative offices, childcare facilities, engineering and computer/science labs, athletic facilities, an auditorium, a gymnasium and a library. The grounds promote recreation and study, and feature tennis courts, baseball fields, picnic areas and an outdoor performing arts stage. Fifteen associate’s degrees and all the coursework for five baccalaureate degrees are available at Kent State Ashtabula.
Word is out: Ashtabula Campus hit a milestone last January with an impressive enrollment increase of 30.76 percent. When the official count arrived, showing a total enrollment of an all-time high 1961 students, I was pleased that data indicated our response to the needs of the community was effective. Growth was across the board demographically with new and returning students of all ages, and includes high school students taking advantage of state-funded programs.
Much of our success stems from retaining accomplished, engaged faculty who teach creatively as well as effectively. Our strategic objectives point towards Ashtabula as a leading university campus, and we are continuously gaining momentum as reflected in our enrollment.

College Advice |
Question: Going to college at regional campus, how do I know if I'm a resident or non-resident?Ok, I'm going to Kent State-Ashtabula, one of the regional campuses of Kent State University. I was looking at the tuition/fees page, under the regional campuses 06-07(don't have 07-08 up yet) tuition totals. Then, it says, undergrad resident lower division, then it has a list. Then it says undergrad non-resident lower division and it gives the totals for each. Now, I live in Ashtabula, and because this is a regional campus, they don't offer room/board. So how do I know if I'm a resident or not? Are you a resident then if you are from that city or state? Here is the page... http://www.kent.edu/bursar/Fall-2006-Tuition-and-Fees.cfm ... its the regional campuses remember. Tell me whether I'd fall under a resident or non-resident, I'm thinking I'm right with me being resident, but I just want to make sure. Thanks ahead of time I'll be living at home with my parent while attending there... if that helps.32 months ago
Best AnswerBy "resident", they're referring to whether or not you live in-state or out-of-state. So, as long as you live in the same state as where the college is, you'd go off of the resident tuition. There are exceptions to this: sometimes state-run universities offer resident rates to students from neighboring states. |
Question: A liberal arts college with a strong visual art department?Hello, I'm a high school junior and I'm looking for a liberal arts college with a good visual art department. I'd prefer one that's not in an isolated setting, but that's not really important right now. If anyone can aid my search, I'd be much obliged!34 months ago
