If you're just starting college there are a few basic steps to ensure that your admission to Daytona State College is a smooth one. It is suggested that you complete this process at least six (6) weeks before the first term in which you plan to enroll to avoid registration related holds and to ensure that all documentation has been processed prior to your attempts to register.
1. Submit an application for admission, either online or download the printable version; submit official, final high school transcripts or GED scores in a sealed envelope from issuing institution.
2. Apply for financial aid. The priority application period is in April/May prior to the start of classes, but late application are always accepted. Processing takes 3-4 weeks, and should be completed as soon as college enrollment is contemplated.
3. Complete New Student Orientation online. All new students pursuing a degree or certificate program need to complete the orientation requirement prior to registration.
4. Complete placement requirements. All new students admitted to a degree or certificate program must complete assessment requirements. The College Placement Test (CPT – College Board Accuplacer) is the assessment used for associate degree programs. Students entering certificate programs are assessed using the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education). Click here for more information on these tests and to review sample questions. You can also satisfy these test requirements if you provide documentation of acceptable achievement using SAT or ACT scores which are less than two years old.

Daytona Beach College is a four year college located in Daytona Beach, Florida in the United States. Known for its photography and nursing programs, the school now offers two four year bachelor degrees in nursing and Management Information Services.
DBC is the current home of the renowned Southeast Museum of Photography and the college is also involved in a joint-partnership program with Volusia County and Flagler County school districts known as the Advanced Technology Center. The Advanced Technology Center provides high school students in their junior and senior years the ability to dual-enroll and receive college credits. The main areas of studies are Computer Technology, Construction, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Automotive Services.
Recently, the college has expanded its course load and earning accreditation to offer Bachelor of Applied Science degrees. Creating the formally "two year" school and making it a "four year" school.
DBC has a NJCAA program with Softball, Baseball, Women's Golf, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball teams. Women's golf are currently defending three time NJCAA National Champions. (As of 4/28/2006). Three of the five athletic teams earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.1. Fifteen of the student athletes earned Academic All-Americans (NJCAA) for having GPA's over 3.6 for the academic year and five student athletes earned Distinguished Academic All-American (NJCAA) for having a cumulative GPA over 3.6 for both years.
