Established in 1992, the North Miami Campus has grown to include more than 1,900 students from 41 states and 47 countries, enrolled in our College of Business, College of Culinary Arts and The Hospitality College. Just north of Miami’s downtown and South Beach — and just south of Ft. Lauderdale — our campus is located within a cultural and design mecca, and hub of international business.
At JWU, you’re a name, not a number. Our industry-experienced faculty bring real-life experience, hands-on learning and networking opportunities into small classroom settings, where you’ll learn the knowledge and skills which employers have identified as necessary for career success. Through immersion in industry practices, experiential learning and industry-specific software, we prepare you to both hit the ground running and to realize your long-term career goals.
Unlike other universities, at JWU you’ll take courses in your major from day one so you’ll know right away if that field is right for you. In addition, a dedicated faculty advisor and academic coach will help you develop the best possible career plan to further your goals. And through our specialized career courses, you’ll build your resume showing the areas you’ve mastered, and graduate with a portfolio of your work that’ll set you apart from the rest.
Our North Miami Campus is a self-contained community just steps from the shops, restaurants and commerce of Biscayne Boulevard. Centralized classrooms and services in a palm-lined setting make for casual camaraderie. Between our range of recreational and professional clubs and organizations, student government, special events and leadership programs, there’s a variety of ways to get involved.
We also offer team and intramural athletics, a workout facility with pool, organized outdoor adventures and weekly trips to the beach, movies, theatre, and Miami Heat and Dolphins games in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area.
Located in south Florida's commercial and cultural hub, JWU’s North Miami Campus provides a full university experience in a diverse setting among the palm trees. Here, you can take advantage of our 15 majors, strong connections to the region’s numerous career opportunities and variety of clubs, organizations, intercollegiate athletics and JWU-sponsored adventure outings. With easy access to the bright lights of downtown Miami, South Beach and Ft. Lauderdale, you’ll be able to balance work, play and leadership development in a tropical Mecca.

Academics
Johnson & Wales University, "America's Career University,", has campuses in four locations: Providence, Rhode Island; North Miami, Florida; Denver, Colorado; and Charlotte, North Carolina. (Two previous campuses in Norfolk, Virginia, and Charleston, South Carolina, were consolidated into the Charlotte Campus in September 2004.) JWU currently has three academic units at all four of its campuses: the College of Business, the College of Culinary Arts, and the Hospitality College.
The Providence Campus is home to additional academic units: the School of Technolgy, the Alan Shawn Feinstein Graduate School, and the John Hazen White School of Arts & Sciences. Of these, the School of Arts & Sciences is not degree-granting, but is responsible for the liberal arts education that complements the degree-granting programs.
Johnson & Wales University is well known for its Culinary Arts program as well as business and hospitality programs. The university is the largest food service educator in the world. JWU also offers many other degrees, including Accounting, Fashion Merchandising and Retail Management, Management, Marketing, Criminal Justice, Entrepreneurship, and Sports Entertainment and Event Management.
Academic calendar
JWU is divided into three trimesters each 11 weeks long, where the standard fall and spring semesters are replaced with fall, winter, and spring trimesters. This results in an earlier spring break and a typical summer break from May to September. During these three terms, students usually take three to four courses a trimester.
