South University - Savannah School Description

South University's Savannah campus is home to the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business, College of Health Professions, and School of Pharmacy.

In 2000, the Health Professions building was opened and houses classroom and lab facilities for the Physician Assistant, Physical Therapist Assisting, and Medical Assisting programs. The Health Professions Building also houses the campus library, student lounge, and administrative offices.

The campus library houses a large book collection that includes extensive law, business and medical resources. As a student, you can retrieve articles in print and electronic formats from its collection of periodicals, many of which are accessible anywhere from on- or off-campus. Some of the sources that make these services available include: WESTLAW, the computerized legal research service; EbscoHost, a collection of thousands of journal articles covering business and academic subjects, and PQ Central, the largest aggregated resource on the market.

In 2007, the library was relocated to a new dedicated facility on the Savannah campus adding space, computer labs, classrooms and study areas.

South University is a proprietary university based in Savannah, Georgia. Additional campuses are located in Montgomery, Alabama; Tampa, Florida; West Palm Beach, Florida; and Columbia, SC.

Academics

South University's Doctor of Pharmacy program is one of only three Schools of Pharmacy in the state of Georgia.

Accreditation

South University is a Level 5 institution regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

History

The institution was originally founded in 1899 as Draughon's Practical Business College by John Draughon. It operated under the name Draughon's Junior College until 1985, when the name South College was adopted to reflect its acquisition (in 1974) by the family of John T. South, III. The name was later changed to South University to reflect the institution's accreditation to award degrees at the masters and doctorate level.

It's pretty much classified like the usual online schools such as Strayer, Walden, etc. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/directory/brief/drglance_13039_brief.php US News didn't rank them, but lists their prices and student body numbers.
